By now, you have probably visited your favorite apple orchard and have some delicious apples in your kitchen.  Today I would like to share my delicious apple pie recipe with you.  This recipe was given to me by a co-worker more than 35 years ago.  She was an excellent baker - so much so that I hired her to make my wedding cake.  I hope that you enjoy this recipe!

Ingredients:
1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
6 - 8 cups of apples (enough to fill the crust)
1/2 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

For the topping:
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 stick of butter
1 cup of flour

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Peel and thinly slice your apples in a large bowl.  Toss with the sugar and cinnamon and fill your pie crust.
In a smaller bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, and flour.  Using a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour and sugar until it is all incorporated and in pea-sized crumbles.  Place on top of your filling and bake at 375°F for about an hour.  Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.  Enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
